A creative collaboration between Family Tree and artists. Matthew Thomas and Lorraine Hughes, won lottery funding in 2010 to launch a new therapeutic photographic project for carers to participate in a time-out experience called IMAGO.
IMAGO has a ten-year development history. It began its life in Liverpool as RE:ACT and initially concentrated on working with service users and support workers.
It has been reviewed by the Tate Gallery who considered it to have extraordinary potential.
Carers (through Family Tree) are now free to choose an iconic image that suits their own inner strengths and dreams and desires. Props/costumes/backgrounds are selected by the participant with help from Matthew and Lorraine.
This will then be turned into a final image, photographed professionally by Matthew, to be exhibited in a gallery (and possibly online).
Below is an example from a previous project
