At Family Tree we aim to give carers and families  the knowledge and support they need to be able to cope better with caring for someone with a severe mental illness particularly where there are psychotic symptoms, such as in those with a diagnosis of schizophrenia or bi-polar disorder.

Family Tree has been established for over ten years and was started by carers for carers. Although we are based in a hospital we are an independent registered charity. 

We currently have one part-time paid worker (Carers Services Manager), volunteers who manage specific parts of our work and a management committee of carers, service users and professionals. We also use speakers from a wide range of specialisms to deliver our programme for us, all of whom are experts in their field.
